Why do the welsh want independence so badly?

They were conquered by England over 500 years ago.. ud think theyd be over it. Italy was broken up in many different states just 2 centuries ago and people their arent whining. I know this is just a generalisation and im sure that their are many people that are happy to be part of the UK.
