How can playing ukulele help me with my guitar playing and musicianship?

I have been playing guitar for two years, and I have had a ukulele for a year, but I have hardly played it. Since I am in a band that plays a lot of alternative rock, I really want to focus on playing the guitar and memorizing my scales. I hope to encourage my band to also play some acoustic sets. I'm considering if playing the ukulele at the same time will be a benefit to my guitar playing. Perhaps, practicing scales on the ukulele will be excellent fingering practice to prepare me for guitar. However, I also consider if playing the ukulele will be a distraction from the time I should spend on the guitar. Would it be worth it to learn how to play the ukulele during the same time I am playing guitar? Thank you for your help. Your advice is well-appreciated.
